The Right to Disconnect: What it means for small business owners

The boundaries between work and personal life are becoming increasingly blurred. Many Australian workers are expected to stay connected and responsive long after their official working hours have ended. But the "Right to Disconnect", new legislation set to take effect for large employers on August 26, 2024, will likely change that. The Right to Disconnect, introduced under the Fair Work Amendment Bill 2024, gives employees the legal right to switch off from work-related communications outside their usual hours. Report Shows 50% Surge in Payment Disputes from Struggling Businesses

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ABSFEO) has reported a significant increase in requests for assistance from business owners dealing with payment disputes and fears of insolvency.
