Albert Nelson Award
Every year SBMS presents an award to an individual that has delivered exemplary service and support to SBMS and the sector we support.
The Award is named after the founder of SBMS, Albert Nelson.
“SBMS was created in 1986 but was then originally called the Talent Pool of Retired Executives. Small Business Victoria (SBV) embraced the organisation and the volunteers to supplement its own programs. The response was so encouraging, and the potential value of these volunteer services was so significant that SBV took measures to sponsor the organisation across Victoria. This sponsorship was formally recognised in 1996 through a Memorandum of understanding that evolved into an ongoing contract in 2007.”
- Albert Nelson from the book “The Story so far... a History of SBMS"
